Client: Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC)
Challenge: To consolidate processes and data from multiple operational systems and deliver
this functionality to customers in the form of a user-friendly website.
Solution: HMB teamed with the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and other consulting firms
to build Dolphin, BWC's next generation E-Commerce site. The Dolphin Project now
enables customers to interact online whenever they want - all day, every day!
Employees, employers and medical providers can now access information and request workers' compensation
services with a click of the mouse.

Client: Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC)
Challenge: BWC needed a more efficient way to do business. BWC's objectives for the
DISC system were: reduced operating and ownership costs; and increased system speed and
reliability.
Solution: HMB assisted BWC with the centralization of the Document Imaging System for
Claims (DISC). DISC is a client/server system utilizing Windows 2000 Advanced Server,
Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Visual Basic 6.0, Kofax Image Controls, Bell & Howell 6000/8000
Series scanners and EMC SAN attached storage. The system is utilized by 1500 users at
22 of BWC's service offices located throughout the state of Ohio. The complex system conversion
spanned over 12 months and involved several teams from BWC and HMB.

Client: Ohio Department of Education
Challenge: ODE initiated a project request for the development of a web-based tool
that school districts could use to develop a plan. This tool would eliminate redundant data entry
on behalf of the districts, and incorporate improvement planning and grant application process.
Solution: ODE engaged HMB to assist with the development of the application named
Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Planning (CCIP). CCIP allows for the integration of school
district improvement goals and strategy planning with the budgeting and grant application processes.
Designed to improve ODE and school district efficiencies, CCIP encompasses many mechanisms that
align strategic plans among school districts and application processes, reduces redundant
activities, data collection and papework, and much more.

Client: Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS)
Challenge: The Member Statement System produces a Traditional Member Statement and a
Money Purchase Statement. Together, these statements contain very detailed information about the
member's retirement benefits.
To better server OPERS' members, a series of modifications were identified, to be included in the
existing statements.
The Traditional Member Statement needed to be changed to include the Additional Annual
Stable Value Fund projections and the Health Care "Choices" program.
The Money Purchase Statement needed to be changed to include the MP Beneficiary information;
up to 5 estimated age & service retirement benefit projections, estimated survivor benefit
statements; and the Additional Annuity Stable Value Fund Projections.
Additionally, the follwoing new statements had to be designed, developed, implemented, and
integrated with the existing Member Statement System:
New Law Enforcement Statement - same as the Member Statement yet includes age & service
retirement projections that are Law Enforcement or Public Safetly, based on unique eligibility criteria.
New Combined Plan Statement
Solution: OPERS engaged HMB to provide Traditional and Money Purchase members with
additional calculations and more detailed information in their statements. This initiative
also provided OPERS Law Enforcement and Combined Plan members with a new comprehensive statement.
HMB also incorporated several new features to the Member Statements system including enhanced
worksheets, a Statistical Reprot, and automated process for the Intermediate Calculations Report,
and a statement request utility.

Client: Ohio SchoolNet Commission
Challenge: A nationally known education consulting firm, with input fro OSN and
technology coordinators statewide, developed a model to assist school districts in the
development of their district-wide technology plan. HMB was charged with the translation
of the model process of the suggested planning activities needed to create a quality technology
plan into a working web application.
Solution: In July 2002, HMB began work on the Technology Plan Tool (TPT), which is a
web-based application that assists school districts in the development of their district-wide
technology plan. Through the TPT, a district can easily access helpful tools, links to key
resources, samples and guiding questions that will ensure their plan not only meets state
and federal requirements but also leads to action and results within a proactive
strategic planning framework.
